Description

Enjoy asparagus stuffed chicken breast! Juicy chicken filled with fresh asparagus and cheese, baked to perfection for a delicious and healthy meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts – the star of the dish, offering a lean source of protein that is easy to cook and absorbs flavors wonderfully.
  • 12 asparagus spears, trimmed – these green beauties add a fresh, earthy flavor and a vibrant color, contributing essential vitamins and minerals.
  • 4 slices mozzarella or provolone cheese – either cheese will melt beautifully inside the chicken, providing a creamy, rich element that balances out the dish.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil – a key ingredient for adding moisture and a slight richness while aiding in the proper browning of the chicken.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder – this seasoning adds a depth of flavor, enhancing the overall taste of the dish.
  • 1 tsp paprika – offering a touch of sweetness and warmth, paprika also adds a stunning color to the dish.
  • Salt & pepper, to taste – these essential seasonings enhance all the individual flavors in the recipe.
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish) – not only does parsley add a pop of color, but it also contributes a fresh, herbaceous note that rounds off the dish.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Begin by lining a baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easier cleanup.
  2. Create pockets in the chicken. With a sharp knife, slice each chicken breast horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through. This forms a pocket for the stuffing.
  3. Stuff each pocket with 3 asparagus spears and a slice of cheese. If the filling spills out, use toothpicks to secure the openings.
  4. Brush the stuffed chicken with 1 tbsp olive oil and season with 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. This will enhance the flavor and help achieve a golden-brown color.
  5. Sear the chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. This step adds depth and flavor through the Maillard reaction.
  6. Bake the chicken in the prepared dish for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  7. Remove toothpicks, garnish with 1 tbsp fresh parsley, and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious masterpiece!
