Baked Brie with Apples

  • Author: Alyssa

Description

Delight in Baked Brie with Apples—warm, melty cheese topped with sweet apples and honey. A perfect appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round of brie cheese (approximately 8 ounces) – The star of the dish, brie is soft, creamy cheese that melts beautifully when baked.
  • 2 medium apples (about 2 cups when sliced), such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp – These varieties offer a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, adding flavor and texture.
  • 2 tablespoons butter – Used for sautéing the apples, adding richness and depth of flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar – This sweetener caramelizes during the cooking process, enhancing the sweetness of the apples.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – A warming spice that complements the apples, bringing out their inherent flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice – Adds brightness and acidity, balancing the sweetness of the apples.
  • Fresh thyme (for garnish) – This herb adds a hint of freshness and enhances the overall flavor of the dish.
  • Crackers or baguette slices (for serving) – These provide the perfect vehicle for scooping up the warm brie and cooked apples.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the brie bakes evenly and reaches the ideal gooey consistency.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Watch the butter closely to avoid burning.
  3. Add 2 sliced medium apples, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the skillet. Stir everything together to coat the apples in the mixture.
  4. Cook the apple mixture for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender but still hold their shape. You want them soft but not mushy.
  5. Place 1 round of brie cheese in a baking dish. Make sure the dish is oven-safe to prevent any spills.
  6. Pour the sautéed apples on top of the brie, spreading them evenly over the cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the brie is gooey and melted. Keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t overcook.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and cool slightly; this allows the cheese to set a little while still remaining warm.
  9. Garnish with fresh thyme to elevate the presentation, and serve immediately with crackers or baguette slices. Enjoy!
