Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, for topping
- Tomato slices, for topping
- Red onion slices, for topping
- Pickles, for topping
- Tartar sauce, for dressing
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: Begin by chopping half of the shrimp into small pieces. Pulse the remaining shrimp in a food processor until smooth. This combination gives the burgers an excellent texture.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, processed shrimp, breadcrumbs (1/4 cup), egg (1), chopped green onions (2), minced garlic (2 cloves), mayonnaise (1 tbsp), Dijon mustard (1 tbsp), lemon zest (1 tsp), chopped parsley (1 tbsp), and Old Bay seasoning (1 tsp). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Form Patties: Mix all the ingredients well until they are thoroughly combined. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Cover the patties and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.
- Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil (2 tbsp) in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the Buns: While the patties are cooking, toast your burger buns in the skillet or in a toaster until light and crispy.
- Assemble the Burgers: To assemble, place the cooked shrimp patty on the bottom half of the toasted bun, and top with lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, pickles, and a generous dollop of tartar sauce. Finish with the top half of the bun.
