Description

Enjoy Festive Christmas Crinkle Cookies—chewy, chocolaty, and covered in powdered sugar, perfect for holiday celebrations or gift-giving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. This ensures your cookies will bake evenly and prevents sticking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Ensure that there are no lumps in the mixture.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil until well combined. Add in the 2 large eggs, one at a time, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, beating until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be soft but firm enough to hold its shape.
  5. Chill the dough: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Chilling helps the cookies maintain their shape while baking and enhances the flavor.
  6. Prepare for rolling: Once chilled, remove the dough from the refrigerator and use a spoon to scoop out about 1 tablespoon of dough. Roll it into a ball using your hands.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar: Roll the dough ball in a bowl filled with powdered sugar (1/2 cup) until fully coated. Ensure it’s generously dusted to create the beautiful cracked top we all love.
  8. Bake the cookies: Place the powdered-sugar-coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they look crinkled and the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  9. Cool and Enjoy: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these delightful treats with a glass of milk or hot cocoa!
