Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts: The protein base of the dish, chicken breast provides a lean source of meat that stays tender and juicy when baked.
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese: This adds a nutty, salty flavor that enhances the overall taste of the dish. Opt for freshly grated Parmesan for the best quality.
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch): Breadcrumbs create that enticing crust; Panko specifically gives a lighter, crispier texture compared to regular breadcrumbs.
- 2 tsp garlic powder: A key ingredient that infuses the chicken with robust garlic flavor. Garlic powder is convenient and provides consistent flavor throughout the dish.
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning: This blend of herbs complements the garlic and Parmesan, bringing an aromatic depth to the chicken.
- Salt & pepper, to taste: Essential for enhancing the flavors of all the ingredients; season according to your preference.
- 1/4 cup melted butter: This adds moisture and richness, helping the breadcrumb mixture adhere to the chicken and resulting in a golden crust.
- 2 tbsp olive oil: Used for brushing the chicken, it adds additional flavor and helps with crisping the coating.
- Fresh parsley for garnish: This adds a touch of color and freshness to the dish, making it visually appealing.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking dish by greasing it lightly to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the breadcrumb mixture: In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 cup of Panko breadcrumbs, 2 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix well to ensure that all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Brush the chicken: Take your four boneless, skinless chicken breasts and brush them with 2 tbsp of olive oil. This will help the breadcrumb mixture stick and create a beautifully golden crust.
- Coat the chicken: Once the chicken breasts are evenly brushed with olive oil, generously coat each piece with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down slightly to ensure the coating adheres well.
- Arrange in the baking dish: Place the coated chicken breasts in the greased baking dish. Drizzle 1/4 cup of melted butter evenly over the top of the coated chicken to enhance flavor and crispiness.
- Bake to perfection: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and registers 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part when tested with a meat thermometer.
- Garnish and serve: Once the chicken is cooked through, remove it from the oven, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve immediately.
