Description

Enjoy lemonade puppy chow, a fun and refreshing snack! This simple recipe blends sweet and tangy flavors, making it a perfect summer treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups Rice Chex cereal – This gluten-free cereal provides the crunchy base that absorbs the sweet, lemony coating.
  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips – This creamy chocolate adds sweetness and a smooth texture, binding the mixture together.
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant lemon pudding mix – A key ingredient that delivers intense lemon flavor and helps to create a sweet coating.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar – This adds sweetness and a powdery texture that’s iconic in puppy chow recipes.
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest – Fresh lemon zest enhances the overall lemon flavor with aromatic oils and adds a pop of color.
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice – Freshly squeezed lemon juice brings brightness and an extra zing to the mix.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the white chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 1/2 cups of white chocolate chips. Heat in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until fully melted and smooth.
  2. Coat the cereal: In a large bowl, add 5 cups of Rice Chex cereal. Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal and gently stir to coat each piece evenly.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 package (3.4 oz) of instant lemon pudding mix, and 1 tbsp of lemon zest. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Combine the mixtures: Sprinkle the powdered sugar mixture over the coated cereal. Toss carefully to ensure all pieces are covered.
  5. Add the lemon juice: Drizzle 1/4 cup of lemon juice over the cereal mixture for an added tangy flavor, and gently toss to combine.
  6. Allow to cool: Spread the mixture out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it cool completely before serving, allowing the coating to set.
