Ingredients
Scale
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup salsa
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 12 6-inch tortillas
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, which usually takes about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Season the Beef: Stir in 1 packet of taco seasoning according to the packet’s instructions, ensuring the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the beef. This step typically takes an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, use a hand mixer or whisk to beat 8 ounces of softened cream cheese until smooth. Blend in ½ cup of salsa until the mixture is uniform.
- Assemble the Tacos: Lay a 6-inch tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread approximately 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the center of the tortilla. Top it with 2-3 tablespoons of the seasoned beef, followed by a generous sprinkle of ⅓ cup shredded Cheddar cheese.
- Form the Pocket: Carefully fold the tortilla over the filling, burrito-style, creating a tight pocket to prevent spilling.
- Prep for Baking: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a baking tray with cooking spray. Arrange the filled tortillas on the tray and brush the tops with 2 tablespoons of melted butter to encourage a golden brown finish.
- Bake: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the tortillas are golden and crispy.
