Asparagus Stuffed Chicken Breast

Asparagus Stuffed Chicken Breast

Ingredients

  • 4boneless (skinless chicken breasts - the star of the dish, offering a lean source of protein that is easy to cook and absorbs flavors wonderfully.)
  • 12asparagus spears (trimmed - these green beauties add a fresh, earthy flavor and a vibrant color, contributing essential vitamins and minerals.)
  • 4 slicesmozzarella or provolone cheese - either cheese will melt beautifully inside the chicken (providing a creamy, rich element that balances out the dish.)
  • 1 tbspolive oil - a key ingredient for adding moisture and a slight richness while aiding in the proper browning of the chicken.
  • 1 tspgarlic powder - this seasoning adds a depth of flavor (enhancing the overall taste of the dish.)
  • 1 tsppaprika - offering a touch of sweetness and warmth (paprika also adds a stunning color to the dish.)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste - these essential seasonings enhance all the individual flavors in the recipe.)
  • 1 tbspfresh parsley (chopped (for garnish) - not only does parsley add a pop of color, but it also contributes a fresh, herbaceous note that rounds off the dish.)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Begin by lining a baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easier cleanup.

  2. 2

Create pockets in the chicken. With a sharp knife, slice each chicken breast horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through. This forms a pocket for the stuffing.

  3. 3

Stuff each pocket with 3 asparagus spears and a slice of cheese. If the filling spills out, use toothpicks to secure the openings.

  4. 4

Brush the stuffed chicken with 1 tbsp olive oil and season with 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. This will enhance the flavor and help achieve a golden-brown color.

  5. 5

Sear the chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. This step adds depth and flavor through the Maillard reaction.

  6. 6

Bake the chicken in the prepared dish for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

  7. 7

Remove toothpicks, garnish with 1 tbsp fresh parsley, and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious masterpiece!
