  • 1 cupall-purpose flour ((spooned & leveled))
  • 1 teaspoonbaking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoonbaking soda
  • 1 teaspoonground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoonground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoonground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoonsalt
  • 2 Tablespoonsunsalted butter ((melted and slightly cooled))
  • 1 largeegg ((at room temperature))
  • 1/3 cuppacked light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cupmilk ((at room temperature))
  • 1/4 cupyogurt or sour cream ((at room temperature))
  • 1 teaspoonpure vanilla extract
  • 2 Tablespoonsunsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 1/3 cuppure maple syrup
  • 1 cupsifted confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoonmaple extract ((optional, but recommended))
  • pinchsalt (to taste)

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray donut pan with non-stick spray. Set aside.

    Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside.

    Whisk the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, milk, yogurt, and vanilla together until completely combined.

    Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix. The batter will be thick.

    Spoon the batter into the donut cavities—fill about halfway.

    Bake for 10-11 minutes or until lightly browned. Allow donuts to cool slightly in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
