Ingredients

  • 1 lblean ground turkey: This serves as the protein base of our dish (contrasted by its mild flavor, making it an excellent canvas for spices.)

  • 1diced small onion: Onions introduce sweetness and depth to the dish (providing a solid aromatic base when sautéed.)
  • 2minced cloves garlic: Fresh garlic elevates the flavor profile (giving the dish a rich aroma and taste.)
  • 1 tbspolive oil: Olive oil is used for cooking (adding healthy fats and a light flavor enhancement.)
  • 1 tsppaprika: Paprika brings a warm (smoky essence that pairs beautifully with turkey and zucchini.)
  • Salt and pepper to taste: Seasoning helps to enhance all the ingredient flavors effectively.
  • ¼ tspchili flakes (optional: For those who enjoy a little heat, adding chili flakes can elevate the dish.)
  • ¼ cupgrated Parmesan cheese (optional: A sprinkle of Parmesan can add a rich, nutty finish, making the dish even more savory.)
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or basil for garnish (optional): Fresh herbs provide not only visual appeal but also a burst of freshness.)
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional: A squeeze of lemon juice can brighten the flavors, enhancing the overall dish.)

Instructions

  1. 1

Prep the ingredients: Start by dicing 2 medium zucchinis and 1 small onion. Mince 2 cloves of garlic and set all the veggies aside.

  2. 2

Cook the turkey: In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 lb of lean ground turkey and cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Remember to break the turkey into smaller pieces as it cooks. Once browned and fully cooked, remove it from the skillet and set it aside.

  3. 3

Sauté the aromatics: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes, or until they become fragrant and the onion is translucent.

  4. 4

Add zucchini: Next, add the diced zucchini to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the zucchini is slightly tender but still crisp.

  5. 5

Combine ingredients: Reintroduce the cooked ground turkey to the skillet. Season with 1 tsp paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. If you like heat, sprinkle in ¼ tsp chili flakes. Mix everything together and cook for an additional two minutes to heat through and blend the flavors.

  6. 6

Garnish and serve: Optionally, top the skillet with ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. For a fresh touch, add chopped parsley or basil as a garnish before serving.
