Description

Savor steak with garlic cream sauce! Tender steak topped with a rich, creamy garlic sauce – a flavorful, indulgent main dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (8 oz each): These cuts are known for their tenderness and flavor, making them ideal for pan-searing.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil: Essential for achieving that perfect sear on your steaks and lending a fruity note to the dish.
  • 2 tbsp butter: Adds richness and helps to enhance the depth of flavor in the garlic cream sauce.
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced: The star of the sauce, imparting a robust flavor profile that complements the creaminess.
  • 1 cup heavy cream: Provides the velvety base for the sauce, ensuring it’s sumptuous and rich.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese: This cheese adds a savory dimension and thickens the sauce for a luxurious mouthfeel.
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard: Offers a subtle tang that brightens the sauce and balances the richness.
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves: An aromatic herb that enhances the flavor of the sauce with its woodsy notes.
  • Salt & pepper: Essential seasonings to elevate the overall taste of the dish.
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish: Adds a pop of color and freshness, enhancing the presentation.

Instructions

  1. Season the Steaks: Begin by seasoning both sides of the 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (8 oz each) with salt and pepper. This simple step ensures that the flavor penetrates the meat, enhancing its taste once cooked.
  2. Heat the Olive Oil: In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the steaks in the skillet, searing them for 3-4 minutes on each side. The goal here is to achieve a beautiful golden-brown crust.
  3. Let Rest: After both sides are browned, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute within the meat, resulting in a juicier steak.
  4. Sauté Garlic: Reduce the heat to medium. In the same skillet, add 2 tbsp of butter. Once melted, add the 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
  5. Prepare the Cream Sauce: Stir in 1 cup of heavy cream, followed by 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tsp of Dijon mustard, and 1 tsp of fresh thyme leaves. Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens slightly.
  6. Combine Steak and Sauce: Return the steaks to the skillet, allowing them to absorb the flavors. Spoon the creamy garlic sauce over the steaks and heat them for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve: Plate the steaks and spoon extra sauce over them. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot. For a complete meal, consider pairing with sides like mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
