Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil: Provides moisture and richness to the dough.
  • 1/2 cup sugar: Sweetens the dough balancing the flavors.
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast: Essential for dough rise giving it a light, airy texture.
  • 4 1/2 cups flour: The base of the dough providing structure.
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder: Helps the dough rise and become fluffy.
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda: Works with baking powder for the perfect texture.
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt: Enhances the overall flavor of the rolls.
FILLING:
  • 1 cup melted butter plus more as needed: Adds richness and flavor to the filling.
  • 1/8 cup ground cinnamon for sprinkling: The key spice that gives these rolls their signature taste.
  • 1 cup sugar plus more as needed: Sweetens the filling, complementing the cinnamon.
FROSTING:
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar: Creates a sweet and smooth frosting.
  • 1 tsp. maple flavoring: Adds a unique depth of flavor.

  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Mix in the remaining flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Roll and Fill: Roll dough to a thin rectangle, brush with melted butter, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon, then roll up tightly.
  4. Cut and Bake: Cut into slices, place in buttered pans, let rise again, and bake until golden.

Notes

  • Tips: For an extra gooey center, add a bit more butter and sugar to the filling. If you prefer a more pronounced cinnamon flavor, don't hesitate to increase the amount of cinnamon.
  • Notes: This recipe is versatile. Feel free to add nuts or raisins to the filling for added texture and flavor.
