- Begin by taking out the chicken thighs and pat each one with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, chipotle powder, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt together.
- Pour the spice mix over the chicken thighs and massage them to ensure they're covered.
- Let chicken sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Preheat the grill to 400ºF with both direct and indirect heat.
- Place chicken skin-side down over direct heat, grilling for 4-5 minutes.
- Flip chicken and grill for another 4-5 minutes.
- Move chicken to indirect heat, add BBQ sauce, and grill for 2-3 minutes to caramelize.
- Remove chicken from grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
