Delicious Baked Camembert Bites

Delicious Baked Camembert Bites—creamy cheese wrapped in crispy puff pastry. A perfect appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 small wheel of Camembert cheese approximately 8 oz - The primary ingredient, Camembert is known for its rich, creamy texture and distinct flavor.
  • 1/4 cup fig jam - Adds sweetness and depth complementing the cheese beautifully.
  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves - Provides an aromatic herbal note to balance the dish.
  • 1/2 cup puff pastry 1 sheet - Creates a golden, flaky exterior that holds the bites together.
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash) - Ensures a glossy finish when baked.

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the puff pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the sheet of puff pastry to a 1/8-inch thickness. Using a sharp knife or pastry cutter, cut the pastry into 3-inch squares.
  3. Assemble the bites: Place a small spoonful (about 1 tsp) of fig jam at the center of each pastry square. Then, take a slice (approximately 1 oz) of Camembert cheese and place it over the jam.
  4. Season: Sprinkle a few fresh thyme leaves (about 1/4 tsp) over the cheese to enhance the flavor.
  5. Enclose the filling: Fold the corners of the puff pastry squares over the cheese and jam, creating a small pouch. Pinch the edges to seal well.
  6. Prepare for baking: Brush the tops of the pastry pouches with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color as they bake.
  7. Bake: Carefully place the pouches on a lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. These bites are best enjoyed warm!
