Add the Vegetables: To the browned meat, add 1 cup of diced onion and 1/2 cup of diced green bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Place the bread buttered-side down in the skillet and toast until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Flip and toast the other side as well.
Assemble: Once everything is ready, spoon a generous amount of the Sloppy Joe filling onto one slice of the toasted Texas bread. Top with another slice to create a sandwich, or serve it open-faced for easier eating.
