Roasted Cabbage With Hot Honey

A delicious way to enjoy cabbage, roasted to perfection and drizzled with hot honey.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 (2 1/2 - 3 pound) green cabbage
  • 1 medium red onion cut into 8 wedges
  • kosher salt
  • pepper
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard (Can use whole grain)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 Skillet Ovenproof

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425℉.
  2. Slice cabbage into 8 wedges keeping core intact.
  3. Add butter and oil to a 12" skillet, and place over heat to melt butter. Remove from heat.
  4. Add cabbage wedges and arrange to fit in the skillet.
  5. Sprinkle with a good pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Flip them over and salt and pepper again.
  7. Add the onion slices, pushing them into the crevices to get coated with the oil and butter.
  8. Roast for 60 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  9. Meanwhile, add the honey and crushed red pepper into a small pan. Heat and bring just to a simmer then remove from heat.
  10. Stir in the mustard and vinegar.

Notes

Serve hot and enjoy the sweet and spicy flavors!
