Simple Teriyaki Sauce

This quick and easy homemade teriyaki sauce adds the perfect Japanese touch to meat, fish, noodle stir fries, and rice, or as a dipping sauce for chicken wings and dumplings.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 5 teaspoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or more to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup cold water

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, ginger, and garlic powder. Heat until nearly warm, about 1 minute.
  3. In a cup, mix cornstarch with cold water until dissolved, then add to the saucepan.
  4. Cook and stir the sauce until it thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

This sauce can also be used as a dipping sauce for chicken wings and dumplings.
